Photography, video, and music
Hey everyone, I'm Reyna Oliva and I'm an interactive media major. Throughout the semester, I'm going to be posting blogs related to photography, video and even music because those are some of my biggest interests. Right now, I'll start of with a little backstory on these topics.
When I was younger, I always loved taking my mom's old video camera and making videos with my little brother or just myself, with any toys or objects. I then went into my American Girl phase, and I ended up with 6 of them and made really cool stop motion videos with them. My patience has gotten so short over the years unfortunately, so I respect 11 year old me for putting all that time and effort into stop motion videos. They were so fun though, and I would love to get back into that. As I grew out of my American Girl phase, I continued to make videos with my friends and sometimes family. I also had an interest in photography, but I didn't have the proper equipment for it at the time. In fact, I didn't even get my first DSLR camera until I graduated high school. Because I didn't have proper equipment until recent years, I got very creative with my setups. I would stack things to make a "tripod," I used a lot of tricks to add cool effects with editors that didn't have certain features, things like that. I found my way around.
When it comes to music, I'm open to anything. I used to be picky with my music, limiting myself to a genre but now I listen to almost anything. I used to make fun of country, but now it's something I listen to. I still listen to artists that could be considered "out of age" like Big Time Rush. And something I have to point out is that music makes videos amazing. When I'm editing, putting the music in is one of my favorite parts of the process, because it pieces everything together so well. I'm looking forward to my future posts!
